Mendonca to challenge for District 72 seat

Ahead of the Nov. 3 general election, The Daily News reached out to candidates vying in contested races for seats in the General Assembly. In addition to basic information, we asked them what makes them best suited to represent their district at the State House.

Name: Ken Mendonça Position running for:

State Representative District 72 (Portsmouth/ Middletown)

What makes you the best candidate for the position you are seeking?

During my term (2016-18), I worked hard for the taxpayer ensuring they got the most from their taxpayer dollars. I served on the House Committee on Finance and invested hundreds of hours learning the details about the budgeting, operation and expenditure processes of state government.

Politics aside, I asked questions in the best interest of the taxpayer to the administration, general office holders and the departments to hold them accountable. The video proof is available at ElectKenRI.com  I was also honored to serve on Committee for Veteran Affairs and represented the many veterans in the district.

I will act to protect those most vulnerable and not sit on the sidelines as we continue to lose more lives to COVID. How many more lives will be lost before the House of Representatives returns and its members do their job? I will call for legislative oversight hearings.
