Let’s get our state off the bottom

We are living in the worst state for business according to the CNBC ranking of states released earlier this year. In the CNBC ranking, Rhode Island is in the bottom 10 of the following categories:

◆ Cost of doing business: 45th.
◆ Infrastructure: 50th.
◆ Economy: 45th.
◆ Cost of living: 43rd.
◆ Access to capital: 45th.
◆ Overall ranking: 50th.

The Tax Foundation ranks Rhode Island 44th for the ! worst business tax climates.

The Pew Charitable Trusts recently released a report that fewer working-age Rhode Islanders have jobs in 2016 when compared to 2007. Rhode Island ranks 47th on that list.

Our legislative priorities should be to get us into the top 10 in all the above categories. I will work with my colleagues in the General Assembly to do that if elected to represent you on Nov. 8.
